Sciatica: Pain radiating along the sciatic nerve, which runs down one or both legs from the lower back.
It’s usually caused when a herniated disk or bone spur in the spine presses on the nerve.
Pain originates in the spine and radiates down the back of the leg. Sciatica typically affects only one side of the body.
Symptoms:
π Pain in the back, buttocks, hip, or lower extremities
π Pain types: can be mild, severe, radiating, or sharp
π Pain circumstances: can occur due to injury or while sitting
π Muscular: difficulty walking or muscle weakness
π Sensory: leg numbness or pins & needles
π Also common: burning sensation, foot numbness, or weakness
It is important to get an accurate diagnosis from a trusted doctor.
Once we identify how symptoms are presenting, where and how your sciatic nerve is compressed, and detect which vertebrae may be misaligned, your Doctor of Chiropractic will perform the appropriate adjustment to maintain long-term alignment and help prevent your pain from returning.
Chiropractic Adjustment:
π Decompress your nerve
π Realign your vertebrae
π Strengthen the muscles around each one
